In architectural Gesamtkunstwerke furniture becomes the connecting link between the human being and architecture. Design concepts from a single designer optimize the potential architectural experience, as well as the overall ambience and comfort. In the 19th century William Morris created Gesamtkunstwerke, whose conceptual approach has remained valid for architects such as Jean Nouvel or Rem Koolhas and through younger designers, such as Erwan and Ronan Bouroullec, has taken on entirely new forms.
